Our Pastors and Leaders

Pastor Evans Gichana Kebungo
Is the founder of Soft Voice Mission Ministry. He is our Senior Pastor. He is the elder son of the late Henry Kebungo and Sabina Kemunto.
He was born in Gucha District, Nyanza province, Kenya. He comes from a family of nine. Seven brothers and two sisters. He is the elder son in that family.  His father used to be a driver and his mother a house wife.

Education
His learning was so intricate since his parents were not born again, they were drunkards; they made him to loose hope in his life. Pastor Evans also became a drunkard like his parents. He started drinking local brew (called Changaa and Busaa), while in school at a very young age. He sat for his Kenya Certificate of Primary Examination in the year 1987.  He did not pass well but he had to join a local secondary school.

At secondary life became worst for him. He continued with his drinking habit. No teacher could control him. He had become an addict to alcohol. His life was wretched. But he believes he was in God’s training. He sat for his forth form Examination in 1991. During examination time he cant remember what he wrote on the papers because he was drunk through out that time. Due to that, he did not pass his examination well. This was dissuasion for him.

Life after School
He came out of school without knowing what to do in life. He joined other failures. Everybody loathed him. He could never raise a point in the midst of people. People could come to his parents just persuading them to tell him to come out of his drinking habit. But his father used to tell them that he believed one day one time his son will stop drinking and become a wonderful person this society. To him it was a pathetic life.

His father was saying all this but He was a drunkard. His aunt‘s husband was working in a Sugar Company. She persuaded him to allow Pastor Evans to live with him. He allowed Pastor Evans to stay with him. His character never changed. That is the time he joined a band. They were singing local music in bars. He left his uncle and went to stay independently.

Pastor Evans says this was the time he got the freedom he wanted. It was the time when he saw hell. He could not cook in his small dirty house because the brew could not allow him. He left that place and went to stay with his relatives in a city called Kisumu.  Things were the same in Kisumu because even his relatives were also a drunkard

Salvation

One day Pastor Evans went to drink the normal brew. He left that place drunk. But he thanks God because this was his day he encountered with Christ. It was on 6th October 1995 as he was coming from the house where he was enjoying himself. He found a servant of God called Bishop Wilfred Lai of Redeemed Gospel Church having a crusade in popular ground called Kenyatta Sport Ground in Kisumu. Because Pastor Evans was a musician he listened to the Gospel music, his mind was captured by the music.

He started dancing differently from believers. The man of God called him. He rebuked the Spirit of drunkenness in Jesus name. Pastor Evans became sober when he heard the voice of the man of God. The man of God called him and started prophesying upon his life. He said. Young man, the Lord has told me that you are His servant.

You will preach the Gospel in many nations of the world because you have been appointed and God has anointed you for His work. Pastor Evans did not understand because he was raised in Catholic, he knew the process of becoming a priest.  The the man of God started calling Pastor Evans a servant of God.  He said, “it is not something that will happen today but i will take some time. Pastor Evans accepted Jesus Christ as His personal savior that very day. Bishop Lai Left him in the hand of Bishop Mark Kegohi who became his Spiritual father up to now.

Pastor Evans continued going to church everyday. He found himself in serving God. The Holy Spirit rominded Him, remember you were told that you are a servant of God. From that time God has elevated him in many ministries in the body of Jesus Christ. He became a member of praise and worship team in the year 1996. In that same year he was appointed Evangelism leader in the church. In the year 1997 he became Youth leader. In the year 1998 he was appointed schools and colleges leader.

In Nairobi

He left Kisumu in 2000 to Nairobi and joined  Liberty Christian Center a ministry of Redeemed Gospel Church with Reverend Kepha Omae. He worked with the servant of God up to 2002

July 12th 2002 he joined School Of Christ International. Where He received a Certificate in Pastoral and Missionary Course. 2003 after graduation he joined Maximum Miracle Centre where he became a pastor of one of the branches in Central Kenya, a place called Karumandi.  His Father passed away in 1995.

He left Karumandi and joined Fire Gospel International Ministries because it was in Nairobi where he could get information from home because he is the elder son in the family. His mother, brothers and sister needed to communicate to him easily.  In Fire Gospel Ministry he was appointed an associate Pastor, Music Pastor, Women and Youth co-coordinator.

In year 2009 God gave him a vision to come out of Fire Gospel International Ministries to open A Ministry. He obeyed the voice of God and opened this Ministry at Matopeni where we rejoice together. Pastor Evans had faith when He started Soft Voice Mission Ministry. He never had any instrument. They started by faith. At that time they were five of them. Him his wife the assistant pastor Daniel Ivita Kimeu, Samson Kobia, Margaret Kendi.

We thank God for bringing many souls to himself through Soft Voice Mission Ministry. Thank you for your prayers. May God bless you. We welcome you to worship with us any time you happen to be in Nairobi. Please support where you can. God bless you. Amen.

Marital Status
Pastor Evans is married to Pastor Resper Kananu who serves together with him. She was born in 15th Nov 1979 in a family of nine. She is the third born in that family. She gave her life to Christ in 1994 when Students from Nairobi University had a Rally in a nearby market. She thanks God because this was her day. It was not so easy for her to come out of her Roman Catholic faith.  She did not know the meaning of church but she was only a churchgoer.

In the year 2002she joined a Missionary college where she studied  Intercultural Ministry. She had a good chance to study and got to know that there are many people in many cultures  who have not been reached with the word of God. Due to lack of transport, cultural practices. Communication is a big problem. People stay in total poverty they can not support themselves; the Lord laid a big burden in her to reach the unreached with the Gospel.

Her vision is to reach the unreached with the Gospel. She thank God for connecting her to His servant Pastor Evans Gichana Kebungo who has made her vision to be fulfilled. God allowed them to open a Ministry in a place called Matopeni. They have seen the hand of God in this place. They request all God’s people to pray for them  because there is nothing that can go beyond prayers. May God Bless you abundantly.

They wedded on 21 April 2007, which was the beginning of their ministry. On 08/08/08 God blessed them with a daughter whose name is Joy Comfort. God gave them this child as a joy
and comfort after his wife lost her dear father who passed away on 08/07/2008. Joy Comfort was a miracle to them. She is their first born.

Please wherever you are pray for baby Comfort for her to grown in the fear of the Lord. This child is servant of God. They have promised to take care of her when she grows up she will be proud of her parents.

Comfort’s parents asks for your assistance where you can for baby Comfort to get a better life. The enemy wanted to kill her when she was young but God protected her. After some months the doctors said that she had rickets, they started taking her to hospitals. It has costed them much for her to reach where she has reached. But all in all they give God all the glory.

Calling
He received Jesus Christ as his personal savior at the age of 17 after realizing that Jesus Christ is the only answer to his problems then and forever more. That is when he was taught the Christ ways in the hands of Pastor Joseph Kibuu under East Africa Pentecostal Churches and thereafter was baptized.
Drive
He says, “It has come to my attention that youths are easily caught up by earthen deeds and the devil’s major target. Bearing this in mind, my ambition is to make old and young alike surrender their lives to Jesus; that is endless life. For Jesus is the only way the truth and the life we must follow His ways always”.

Samson came to Nairobi, by the grace of God; He connected him to His servant Pastor Evans Gichana of Soft Voice Mission Ministry. Samson thanks God because of the man of God who saw the burden He has for the youths. He prays that God does great things to touch the young people through this Ministry.

Please wherever you are remember to pray for the Man of God Pastor Evans and all pastors the youths and the entire Church because the enemy wants to destroy God’s people. Please support this Ministry whichever way God many speak to you. God bless you for visiting this website. Amen
